Tae Kwon Do – The Way of the Foot and Fist:
Tae Kwon Do is a modern Korean martial art which emphasized very powerful kicks, strong punches and hand strikes, evasive foot work, and both hard and soft style blocks. There are 24 forms, or preset patterns of movement which are learned in the style of Tae Kwon Do we practice at Pro Form TKD. The style originally drew its inspiration from Japanese Karate, but over the years, has attempted to differentiate itself through its spectacular kicks. Tae Kwon Do evolved in the 1950′s and 1960′s. At Pro Form TKD we practice the Chang Hon style, which is an older military style of Tae Kwon Do, rather than the modern style seen in the Olympics since 1988.
